Cacophony Press

Independent news for independent readers

News without the noise

Find independent reporting without the algorithm.

Cacophony Press is a place to find recent stories from independent publications. Rather than an algorithm deciding what you see, you choose the topics that matter to you, the sources you love, and view matching articles in chronological order.

For independent journalists, Cacophony Press offers a feed for readers where articles are never hidden or suppressed by algorithms; every article appears in chronological order, giving journalists equal exposure.

Cacophony Press serves as a news aggregator, pulling articles from multiple sources, including a small preview of the article, and then linking back to the original source. Full articles are not included intentionally to boost traffic to the source.

Core Principle: Readers choose what they see Core Principle: Link back to the original source

A reader for independent news

The goal is simple: make it easier to keep up with independent journalism without checking a dozen sites or hoping a social feed shows you the important stories.

  • Recent stories appear newest first.
  • Every story shows where it came from.
  • You can browse by publication, topic, date, or keyword without making an account.
No doom-scrolling, no stealing work

Designed intentionally to both bring readers the stories that matter to them and drive traffic to independent journalists' sites. Built with privacy in mind.

  • No popularity sorting designed to keep you scrolling.
  • No streaks, nagging notifications, or unnecessary tracking.
  • No copying full articles away from the publishers who made them.

How it works

Choose trustworthy sources Independent publications are added intentionally, not pulled from every corner of the web by automated crawlers.
Check for new stories The app looks for fresh reporting from those publications throughout the day.
Keep the feed tidy Stories are checked for missing details, repeated links, and obvious display problems.
Pick what to read You filter the feed, find a story, and open the full article at the publisher's site.
